Empowering Women and Girls in South Yorkshire

Strengthening resilience and supporting opportunities for our gals in underserved communities.

She got this.

S.O.A.R network supports girls and women in underserved communities in South Yorkshire to access opportunities that transform our horizon so that we can socially and economically soar higher, rising above limitations and barriers.

We co-design services that meet the needs of our community, helping us cope with and recover from life's challenges, anchoring us in determination and multiplying our resilience.

Tackling women's barriers to job opportunities

What does S.O.A.R stand for?

We support women who are keen to work, volunteer or start their own projects. We do this by peer encouragement, support and networking. We support women to become socially and economically active around caring responsibilities, assisting practically with barriers to accessing opportunities.

Anchoring
Resilience

Together, we co-design services based on our needs, we unite and collectively support each other, increasing our resilience to juggle our responsibilities and access the opportunities that empower us.

It all starts with a step, we want to create stepping stone runways!

We share collective stories of determination and resilience, we encourage each other to be anchored in hope during life's ups and downs.

Grow in Peace

So.. just so you know.. We are not expert gardeners, we are more DIY and fake it till you make it people. Come learn with us or teach us something!

In Sheffield, we bring women, mothers and their families to our local allotment providing an opportunity to learn gardening skills, nurturing, and resilience skills by improving spaces and growing food collectively.

Need a free outdoor activity to let off steam?

Get away from screen time, dig up weeds or plant some seeds, spend quality time together in a peaceful place and create a community with us.

Currently offering small sessions, hoping to expand our allotment sessions as we seek funding for more equipment and resources.

"Our kids have loved spending time in the allotment, collecting water, learning to care for plants. It's been a bonding experience"

Let’s be real — there's a lot of negative noise from the outside and even from inside our own heads, we hear stuff like..

"I don't want a girl on my team"

"You can’t land a good job that works around being a mum"

"Puberty, periods, childbirth or menopause (or men) will stop you doing that!"

We’ve heard it, we’ve internalised it… but that stops here. You are resilient and you are stronger than you feel.

Keep an eye out for our upcoming collection that remind you of your strength, that you can challenge the limits, and own your space with resilience

"Each design is dedicated to an issue us girls and women experience, we hope the designs will help you feel part of our strong and determined network"
