Empowering Women and Girls in South Yorkshire

Strengthening resilience and supporting opportunities for our gals in underserved communities.

She got this.

S.O.A.R network supports girls and women in underserved communities in South Yorkshire to access opportunities that transform our horizon so that we can socially and economically soar higher, rising above limitations and barriers.

We codesign services that meet the needs of our community, helping us cope with and recover from life's challenges, anchoring us in determination and multiplying our resilience.

We support women who are keen to work, volunteer or start their own businesses. We do this by connecting with local organisations/businesses and supporting women to become socially and economically active around caring responsibilities, assisting practically with barriers to accessing opportunities.

A.R is for Anchoring Resilience

Together, we codesign services based on our needs, we unite and collectively support each other through peer support or creating campaigns that increase our resilience to juggle our responsibilities and access the opportunities that empower us.

Grow in peace

Based in Gleadless Valley, we bring mothers and their children to our local allotment providing an opportunity to learn gardening skills, nurturing, and resilience skills by improving spaces and growing food collectively.

Get away from screen time, dig up weeds or plant some seeds, spend quality time together in a peaceful place and create a community with us.

S.O is for Sowing Opportunities

We are not expert gardeners, we are more DIY and fake it till you make it people. Come learn with us.

It all starts with a step, we want to create stepping stone runways!

We share collective stories of determination and resilience, we encourage each other to be anchored in hope during life's ups and downs.

Based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire and established in 2025, we are in the process of registering as a CIC and looking for funding opportunities.

Over the next few months, we are uprooting and clearing our allotment so we can create a supportive community space, increase volunteering opportunities and running sessions that enhance women and girls' wellbeing. We want to create a community that will develop collective improvements, campaign against gender inequality, enhancing women and girls' access to opportunities. We're keen to start designing and delivering powerful training and employment packages that equip organisations ready to close the gender pay gap and create genuinely flexible roles — so that more women and girls, especially those facing deep-rooted systemic barriers, can finally access the opportunities they deserve. We are looking for ways to develop partnerships with organisations and individuals that share our values, enabling us to create a network that shares and creates opportunities with women and girls in underserved communities in South Yorkshire to soar socially and economically.

Wouldn't it be great to find clubs, groups, jobs or volunteering opportunities on our website that were tailored to reduce barriers to women and girls' accessing rewarding opportunities?

Let’s be real — there's alot of negative noise from the outside and even from inside our own heads, we hear stuff like..

"I don't want a girl on my team"

"You can’t land a good job that works around being a mum"

"Puberty, periods, childbirth or menopause (or men) will stop you doing that!"

We’ve heard it, we’ve internalised it… but that stops here. It’s time to flip the script. You are resilient and you are stronger than you feel.

Keep an eye out for our upcoming collection of cards and powerful one-liners that remind you of your strengh, that you can challenge the limits, and own your space with resilience. 💥✨

Wouldn't it be great (reyt good) to download and purchase designs that bring encouragement, support and celebrate the females in your life? Not in an airy, fairy way- but real talk, words of wisdom, profound truths and with images that celebrate our diversity, class and culture?

Could you be looking for an opportunity to create one of our designs? Reach out, we would love to hear about it!
